Privacy policy
Written to be read. If something here is unclear, ask us and we will explain it in plain terms rather than referring you to a clause.

Who this covers
This policy applies to Kugua Inc, a company registered in California, United States, with its office in Irvine, California. It covers the mobile applications we publish on the Apple App Store and Google Play, and this website at kugua.co.
When we build an app for a client and that client publishes it under their own name, they decide what is collected and their own policy applies. In that case we act on their instructions.
The short version
- We collect the least we can get away with and still run the app.
- We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for advertising.
- This website sets no cookies and runs no analytics.
- You can ask for a copy of your data, or ask us to delete it, at any time.
What our apps collect
Content you create
Notes, entries, recordings, files and settings stay on your device unless the app offers sync and you switch it on. Where sync exists, the content is stored so that your other devices can read it, and deleting it in the app deletes it on the server.
Account details, if there is an account
Some apps work without any account at all. Where an account exists, we store an email address or a provider identifier (for example Sign in with Apple) and the date it was created. We do not ask for your legal name, postal address or phone number.
Purchases
Subscriptions and one-off purchases are processed by Apple or Google. We receive a transaction identifier and the status of the purchase so the app can unlock the right features. We never see your card number, and we cannot charge you directly.
Diagnostics
If an app crashes, we may receive a crash report containing the device model, operating system version, app version and a stack trace. These are used to fix the crash and are not linked to an advertising profile. Where the platform offers a choice, sharing diagnostics is optional and you can decline it.
What we do not collect
No advertising identifiers, no cross-app tracking, no location unless a feature you turned on requires it, no contacts, no photos beyond the specific files you select.
What this website collects
No cookies, no analytics script, no tracking pixels, no contact form. Our hosting provider keeps standard server logs — IP address, time, page requested, browser string — for security and troubleshooting, and those are discarded on the provider's ordinary schedule.
One disclosure worth making plainly: the typefaces on this site are served by Google Fonts, which means your browser requests two files from Google's servers and Google therefore sees your IP address as part of that request. Nothing else about your visit is sent, and if you would rather that did not happen, a content blocker stops it and the site still reads correctly in a system typeface.
Why we use it
- To make the app work as described, including syncing what you asked to sync.
- To confirm a purchase and unlock what you paid for.
- To find and fix crashes and defects.
- To answer your emails.
- To meet legal, tax and platform obligations.
For people in the United Kingdom and the European Economic Area, our lawful bases are performance of a contract (running the app you installed), legitimate interests (security, fixing defects, replying to you) and consent where an optional feature asks for it. Consent can be withdrawn in the app's settings.
Who else sees it
We use a small number of service providers, and only for the purposes above: cloud hosting and database providers, Apple and Google for purchases and push notifications, and a crash reporting service. They act on our instructions and are not permitted to use your information for their own purposes.
We will disclose information if a valid legal order requires it, and we will tell you unless we are forbidden from doing so. We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising.
How long we keep it
- Account and synced content: until you delete it or close the account.
- Closed accounts: removed from live systems within 30 days.
- Crash reports: up to 12 months.
- Support email: up to 24 months, so we have context if you write again.
- Invoices and tax records: as long as California and federal law require.
Your rights
Wherever you live, you can ask us for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email support@kugua.co from the address on the account, or tell us the account identifier, and we will confirm your request before acting on it. We answer within 30 days and usually within a few days.
California residents have specific rights under the CCPA as amended by the CPRA, including the right to know, to delete, to correct, and to opt out of sale or sharing — we do not sell or share, so there is nothing to opt out of. Exercising any of these rights will not degrade the app or change what you pay. Residents of the UK and EEA additionally have rights of portability, restriction and objection, and may complain to their supervisory authority.
Children
Our apps are not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, write to us and we will delete it.
International transfers
We are based in the United States and our servers are located there. If you use our apps from outside the US, your information is transferred to and processed in the US, protected by standard contractual clauses with our providers where the law requires them.
Security
Traffic is encrypted in transit, data at rest is encrypted by the storage provider, and access to production systems is limited to the people who need it and reviewed when someone's role changes. No system is beyond reach; if a breach affects you we will notify you and the relevant regulator within the time the law allows.
Changes
When this policy changes we update the date at the top. If a change materially affects what we collect or who sees it, we will say so in the app's release notes as well, rather than relying on you to re-read this page.
